Luis Seguessa discusses with the newspaper El Liberal from Santiago del Estero.
There are ongoing climatic phenomena that "have never occurred before," said the researcher. Furthermore, what is happening "is serious, but people are not realizing it."
A Uruguayan climate change researcher who warned about last year's tsunami in Japan is now alerting about the possibility of accelerated climate phenomena such as droughts, floods, earthquakes, and tsunamis this year due to the progressive deterioration of the ozone layer. This layer acts as a "blanket" that shields the planet from the true temperatures of the universe, which are much higher than Earth's due to this protection. Luis Seguessa has been studying climate change for over 20 years through the Uruguayan organization Fundación Códigos, collaborating with other scientists to analyze climate evolution. The researcher emphasized that planting more trees isn't sufficient to replenish what is consumed by vehicles and what has already been depleted from the ozone layer. According to him, it would require populating at least 7 planets like ours with trees, as he explained to EL LIBERAL at the Awa boutique hotel in Punta del Este.
Why is it relevant to talk about climate change at this moment? Since we started our cycle of conferences in January 2008 at the Gran Hyatt in São Paulo, we have been saying that there is an imminent danger posed by a human invention that is over 100 years old and that simultaneously causes several things: climate change, global warming, and cataclysms like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. A single machine is responsible for all of this, and it is quite challenging to believe. However, when we present the evidence, people understand it: the internal combustion engine found in vehicles. There are 800 million automobiles in the world, and these engines were designed over 100 years ago and have not changed at all. If you disassemble the engine of a Ford Model T, you will see that it contains the same components as a modern engine from 2011. The exterior appearance might differ, but the core engine remains the same.
Why does the engine cause all these cataclysms? Because the immense consumption of oxygen required by the engines to function leads to the weakening of the ozone layer, which is the most important reserve of oxygen that we have. These engines need 5000 parts of oxygen for every part of fuel. For every fuel tank we use, we consume the equivalent of 5000 tanks of pure oxygen. If we were to operate such a vehicle on the moon, to use up a fuel tank, we would need to transport 3 trucks of oxygen with a trailer to enable combustion.
What is the relationship with climate change? The weakening of the ozone layer greatly influences climate change, a theory that was confirmed by Columbia University this year. For us at the Códigos Foundation in Uruguay, this has been a significant support because having conducted a study and having a university like Columbia corroborate it has given us backing. They reached the conclusion that climate change is closely linked to the weakening of the ozone layer as we proposed. On one hand, engines consume oxygen, weaken the ozone layer, and disrupt the climate or trigger climate change. On the other hand, the problem is that the emissions of gases, amounting to millions of tons annually, are causing the greenhouse effect or global warming, which is well known. Additionally, these 800 million vehicles require around 800 million gallons of oil daily. The extraction of this oil every day causes substantial hollowing out in various parts of the planet of a liquid that is not water. It is under extremely high pressures beneath the Earth's surface, and extracting it creates voids, causing the Earth's plates to counterbalance this pressure force with the force of gravity.
Is this related to what happened in Japan? Yes, that's why we were able to predict it. Unfortunately, on February 9th at the Awa Hotel, we stated that a chain of earthquakes with a tsunami was imminent. This wasn't a prediction or a prophecy; it was the result of 23 years of study and understanding why these events occur.
Is the acceleration of these phenomena a theory or a certainty? The year 2012 is a key year because for the first time, something that has never occurred before will happen: simultaneous earthquakes. Just as the consumption of oil is accelerating, so too will the problems of climate change, seismic movements, and volcanic eruptions accelerate. Cataclysms will increase, and this year will see many unprecedented events.
